Elle finishes breaking six eggs into the bowl. Fortunately, none of them are spoiled.
It's after she's tossed the last of the eggshells into the trash that she looks up, across the room, and meets X's eyes.
Then, she returns to the table, closing the egg carton with a now loud
snap
, and opening the milk to pour a little of it into the bowl.
(The salt is going to be important soon. Hopefully Elle will remember.)
