The first thing Elle asked, after X brought her into the apartment, was to take a shower. She's glad she won't be leaving traces at her motel back her own world, but as for why she should feel safer here than her room in the Bar – there's no good reason for that. But Elle also really doesn't care.
She's still rubbing a towel against her slightly damp hair when she emerges into the main room. Her bloodied t-shirt has been exchanged for a different, light blue one, and her jeans for gray sweatpants. Without her makeup, the bruise on her face is clearly visible, but for whatever reason, neither it nor her broken rib bothers her so much here.
Her bare feet pad quietly against the floor, and she takes a few steps into the room before she looks up, and spots X.
"Thanks," she murmurs.

Whatever Elle's going to say, it won't be 'I'm sorry' again. She doesn't look away not, but -
"I didn't want - I wasn't being efficient. When I went after him."
- she does change the subject.

Injuries, perhaps. And blood.
"You were hurt?"

Some people don't take that very well. Elle moves one hand back to her right side, but adds, "It's not a big deal."
no subject
"He will try to kill you now?"
She worries.
no subject
"I killed him."
Elle gets to important things eventually.
"Someone else - came in while we were fighting."
no subject
"They were from the Company, too?"
It seems logical.
But Elle would not be so hesitant if it were.
no subject
"And yeah."
It's not - Elle isn't upset, or even surprised any more. But it's only been six months in her world. If someone had told her back then that she'd be having this conversation now - 'hard to believe' would be much more than an understatement.

"He will be looking for you now?"
X knows Sylar, at least a little.
Even if his presence with the Company does not make sense.

Elle presses her hand to her forehead, and brushes a few locks of still slightly damp hair away from her face.
"Maybe they'll think I'm going after those guys now."
(That might be the best possible spin she could put on it.)

Elle's safety is important.
X does not know how to put this into words.
no subject
She looks back to X. "I got away. It - wasn't a problem."
no subject
"I do not want them to find you again."
It never goes well for X when the Facility finds her, after all.

It's a long moment before Elle can speak again.
"I won't do that again."
She might not repeat it, but her tone is more than a little contrite.

Then --
"Okay."
It seems good from where she is standing, at least.
no subject
"I'll - get out of the country soon, anyway."
It'll help. Once she's through.
no subject
"But you will come back?"
no subject
Beat.
"Not to New York."
At least not for a while. (She might be deciding that just now.)
no subject
X absorbs that.
"Where?"
no subject
"It won't be for a while. I have to go to Tokyo, too."
Pause.
"And I - can't leave here until -"
She vaguely gestures toward the bruise on her face.
no subject
X echoes herself.
But something in the set of her shoulders eases very faintly.
"I have been to Tokyo. Before. Multiple times."
no subject
After another long moment, "Are you -"
She's not really sure how to finish that question.
"Did you -"
"What are you doing?"
It's the best alternative she can think of to 'Are you okay?'
no subject
Beat.
"And Tomas wants me to play baseball. In the spring."
X is not sure how else to say she is okay without lying.
no subject
"With other people?"
Elle doesn't sound skeptical, exactly - but it was different doing it in Milliways.
no subject
"Coaching."
Beat.
"His team."
no subject
"That's -"
Elle doesn't know exactly what it is, so she leaves it on a neutral tone, as though expecting X to finish the sentence for her.
